USA: The US, which is facing the coronavirus epidemic, is now facing the threat of Tsunami. On Monday, a magnitude 7.5 earthquake was felt off the coast of Alaska, causing small tsunami waves in some places. According to US agencies, no loss of life or property has been reported so far. A tsunami warning was issued due to the earthquake. The tsunami warning was later turned into a consultation.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), people have evacuated high altitudes in view of the tsunami warning. This tsunami covers much of Alaska’s southern coast, including the Alaska Peninsula.

Two-foot waves were recorded in the small town near Sand Point, about 60 miles (100 km) from the epicenter of the earthquake at a depth of 25 miles (40 km).

According to the agency, the quake’s epicenter was 735 kilometers southwest (SW) of Homer, Alaska, USA. The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers from the surface at 2:24 AM Indian time.

Shocks of 5 or more intensity were also felt after 7.5 magnitude. A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck near the same area about three years ago. In March 1964, there was a 9.2 magnitude earthquake in Alaska. It is the most powerful earthquake in North America so far. More than 250 people died due to earthquake and tsunami.
