Amritsar: Two women in Amritsar were injured on Saturday after jumping from a moving cab when the driver allegedly tried to sexually assault one of them.

Police said that apart from these two, another woman was also in the cab. He said that when the local people saw two women jumping from the vehicle, they chased the cab and stopped it in the middle and saved the woman sitting in the vehicle.

Station in-charge Robin Hans said that the three women were going by cab to a restaurant on Ranjit Avenue in the evening. “When the cab was on the way, its driver tried to sexually assault a woman, but when the woman stopped her, she increased the speed of the vehicle,” he said. However, the victim jumped from the vehicle while walking with another woman.

Hans said, “Some people standing on the road saw the two women jumping from the moving vehicle. They chased the vehicle and stopped the middle road and saved the third woman.

He told that the cab driver fled the spot, but the police arrested him shortly after.
