Coronavirus: Curfew in Punjab cities from 10 am to 5 am, double penalty for not wearing masks

Amidst the situation of Coronavirus in Delhi and concerns of increasing incidence of corona in neighboring states and second wave of infection, Punjab government has decided to impose night curfew for 15 days in the state. Night curfew will be imposed in all cities and towns of Punjab from December 1 to December 15. This curfew will be from 10 am to 5 am.

The penalty for not wearing a mask and not following social distancing in public places has also been doubled. People are being advised to wear masks and follow social distancing to avoid corona infection.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said, “Hotels, restaurants and wedding venues will be closed at 9.30 pm.” All restrictions will be reviewed on 15 December.

With this, Punjab has become the sixth state to impose night curfew. Before Punjab, night curfew has been announced in Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

According to the data released yesterday, a total of 147665 cases of corona infection have been reported in Punjab so far. The number of cured patients is 136178. So far, 4,653 people have died due to infection in the state.
