Death of Ahmed Patel: Corona was infected on 1 October, Modi said - will be remembered to strengthen his party

Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat Ahmed Patel (71) died early Wednesday. Patel was infected Corona on 1 October. He was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on 15 October. Patel, informing him that the corona was infected, appealed to all his close and contact people to isolate themselves and get a cavid test done.

Ahmed’s son Faizal said in a tweet, ‘I want to tell with great sadness that my father Ahmed Patel has passed away at 3.30 pm on Wednesday. About a month ago, his report came to Corona positive and several parts of his body had stopped functioning, after which he died. Allah gave them Paradise. ‘ Faizal appealed to all his well-wishers to follow the Corona guidelines and maintain social distancing.

Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, ‘I am saddened by the demise of Ahmed Patel. He worked for the society in public life for many years. He was known for his sharp mind. He will always be remembered for strengthening the Congress. I have spoken to his son Faizal. may his soul rest in peace.’

Rahul Gandhi said, ‘Today is a sad day. Ahmed Patel was a pillar of the Congress Party. He always lived for the party and always stood by the party in difficult times. Will always miss them. ‘

‘I lost an associate who had devoted his entire life to the Congress. His qualities such as credibility, dedication to work, helping others made him different from others. They cannot be compensated. My condolences to his family.

Patel, who had become an MP in 28 years, was born on 21 August 1949 in the village of Pyraman in Bharuch district of Gujarat. He was 3 times Lok Sabha MP (1977 to 1989) and 4 times Rajya Sabha MP (1993 to 2020). He contested the first election from Bharuch Lok Sabha seat in 1977 and won by 62 thousand 879 votes. Then he was only 28 years old. In 1980, Patel won from Bharuch by 82 thousand 844 votes and in 1984 by 1 lakh 23 thousand 69 votes.

Patel was the political adviser to Sonia from January to September 1985 as Parliamentary Secretary to the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Sonia was Gandhi’s political advisor since 2001. In January 1986, he became the President of Gujarat Congress. He was the President of Youth Congress Committee from 1977 to 1982. From September 1983 to December 1984, he was the joint secretary of the Congress.
