The government on Monday announced the introduction of an international version of the Umang App. This edition will be useful for Indian tourists going abroad, overseas Indians and Indian international students. Umang (Unified Mobile Application for New-Age Governance) App is an integrated, multi-lingual, multi-medium, and multi-services mobile app of the Government of India. It ensures easy access of people to various departments and services of the Central and State Governments.
On the occasion of the third anniversary of this app, Information Technology and Communications Minister Ravi Shankar addressed a virtual program. Meanwhile, it was announced to introduce its international version. Now the international version of the Umang app will be available in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Singapore and New Zealand. With its help, the overseas Indians, Indian students and tourists will be able to use the services of the Government of India and the State Government at any time.
On this occasion, Prasad said that services on the Umang app are available to citizens through 3.75 lakh Common Service Centers (CSCs) in the country. Through Artificial Intelligence, it can be delivered to people who do not understand the language of the digital world easily. He said that the Umang app should focus on the possibility of using AI technology to develop it as an app that works on voice instruction.
