The torrential rains led to floods in large parts of Hyderabad, killing at least 50 people and causing thousands of crores of damage. Heavy rains lashed many areas of the city on Saturday evening, causing traffic jams and water logging. The city received more than 150 mm of rain, 190 mm of rain was recorded on Tuesday. The video shared on social media saw more than 2 feet of water on the roads.
Vishwajit Kampati, director of vigilance and disaster management of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, said in a tweet that the Disaster Response Force is constantly working to clear the water logging. The Meteorological Office of Hyderabad said that light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are likely to occur in some parts of the city on Sunday, while one or two places may receive heavy rains.
The state government said on Thursday that 50 people lost their lives due to heavy rains and initial estimates have caused a loss of about Rs 9,000 crore. Authorities are carrying out relief work in rain-affected areas, even some areas are submerged in water.

Army and National Disaster Response Force personnel have been deployed to evacuate the stranded residents. Weather officials said that this situation has been created due to a depression in the Bay of Bengal. Apart from Telangana state, floods have also affected neighboring states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao said on Saturday that the families of the flood victims will be identified and ration kits will be given at their homes. Each kit, priced at 2,800, will include a month’s ration item and three blankets.
