Thomson launched its new Oath Pro 55-inch Android Certified Smart TV in India sometime back. This is an Affordable 4K UHD Smart TV. It has features such as built-in Chromecast, Google Assistant, Dolby Vision and HDR10. The company has priced it at Rs 32,999. Let’s know its review.
Bezels are very thin all around it. In addition, a plastic strip in a rose gold color has been given in the display bottom. This TV is very lightweight, so it is also very easy to handle. It gets a simple wall mount and also has a table stand. There is a power button and speakers down firing. At the same time, all ports are in the back.
This Oath Pro Series 55-inch smart TV from Thomson has a 10-bit LED panel with UHD 4K resolution. This panel supports Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG. Its rated brightness is 550 nits. Users will get a 178-degree viewing angle here. Also, MEMC technology has also been provided for upscaling on-screen content frame rate.
The brightness of this display is quite good and the colors are very vibrant. However, in some dark scenes you may have problems with blacks. Also, the settings for display and brightness are not provided here. At the same time, you will not see any special output of MEMC. But you can ignore these problems keeping the price in mind.
This TV has the down-firing 30W stereo speakers. Also, DTS True-Surround and Dolby Digital Plus audio support is also provided here. The loudness of these speakers is quite good. However, you cannot expect stereo effects or too much base. But the overall output is quite good for a smart TV of speakers.
This smart TV stock runs on Android and has support for many apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime and YouTube. These apps will be pre-loaded only. The rest of the apps can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. Also, features like Chromecast and Google Assistant have also been provided. It also has all the necessary ports. WiFi and Bluetooth will also be supported for wireless connectivity.
It has a quad-core processor with 8GB storage and 1.75GB RAM. Talking about software and hardware combine performance, it takes a little time to start the TV. As soon as you start, if you open Google Assistant or an app, then you will get a little smoothness. However, once it starts, it works in a very smooth way.
There is some problem that even after WiFi is connected, it gives no-internet access signal and sometimes Chromecast pairing also has a problem. But this does not happen every time. One problem is that it does not have dual band support for WiFi. In this case, fast internet access is not possible due to 2.4GHz WiFi only. But it definitely has a port for Ethernet cable. In this case, a direct connection can be given.
Talking about remote, hot-keys have been given directly from Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube and Google Play. But the button given for Google Assistant confuses slightly. But the remote is quite good in terms of access.
Overall speaking, it is an official Android TV at a price of Rs 32,999. Also, its build quality is also good. The bezelless design also makes it special. In such a situation, it is a good option to buy as a cheap smart TV. Also, the company has informed that a discount will also be given in Flipkart’s Big Billion Days Sale.
